Welcome to the Soul Clinic.
I have been to over 140 All Inclusive Resorts in Mexico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic and can say with certainty, I know my way around the All Inclusive Industry. Having been fortunate enough to experience such a variety of resorts has allowed me to choose the properties for my own vacation that I know will ensure I truly come back refreshed. For the last two years I have chosen Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita and this year, my visit was even better than the last. I say “visit” because Zoëtry Paraiso is an oasis of tranquility and unpretentious luxury unrivaled in the “All-Inclusive” market. You will not find someone in a blond wig doing Gangam style by the pool here, this is where you come to realign your inner self while still being pampered.

At the Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita Riviera Maya the focus is wellness, self-enhancement and upholding their traditional Mayan culture while offering unrivaled luxuries.
The spa has unique treatments like a Cranial Sacral Facial therapy (if you have to choose a treatment, go with this one, it will change you) and a wonderful bamboo scrub.

Recently, the resort has renewed it’s focus towards wellness and holistic treatments with the addition of their new Wellness Concierge, Genevieve. Her Yoga class at 9 am on the pier will change the way you think of Yoga and her meditation class will have you tingling from head to toe. Genevieve is dedicated to the wellness of the guests and will offer a host of enriching activities. Her perspective on, and dedication to helping guests relax and truly unwind was so refreshing.
With the thousands of new hotel rooms needing to be filled in Mexico each year, there has to be something truly unique about a property to keep it ahead of, and in the game. This is what the Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita offers and I hope the program is expanded. It is one thing to be a resort that offers top tier alcohol, 5 star dining and out of this world suites & service, but it’s another thing to have all these features plus a focus on wellness. Be sure to ask for Genevieve as soon as you arrive, so she can help you navigate any and all treatments, activities as well as setting up your own personal Reiki session.

Highlights and points to remember:
– All of the suites are large and have gorgeous balconies with no sound transference between units because of their concrete structure. Some lead in rooms are configured with 2 beds so if you want a guarantee of a king bed, you must book into the Romance Suite. A tip is to book a Romance Suite and ask for a top floor with private balcony (never guaranteed, but if you don’t ask you don’t get) A lot of people long for a swim out or plunge pool suite on their vacations, but remember that if you want privacy, go with a non-plunge pool and ask for a second floor.

-There are many wellness offerings at the resort that are included and some that are additional (the ones that are included are enough to keep you active) and some that are only in the spa. Feel free to contact me to discuss the entire wellness program here.

– Book the catamaran ride as soon as you arrive, it always books well in advance.
– Take the 10 am (or early) snorkel trip, if it’s a slow day, you may just have your own private boat tour out to the reef with a guide who will take you to the truly beautiful spots. You will notice that the other resorts have 20 people on their boats, the Zoetry boat will have just a few and a guide who has known the reef for years. He took us to places I am sure others from the surrounding resorts did not see.

Conclusions: After having sold travel for 17 years, it is truly refreshing to experience a property that has more on their minds than just filling a pool and filling the people in the pool with alcohol. By offering their guests a way to experience the richness of the Mayan culture and heritage, (while also being spoiled with fine dining, top tier alcohol and unparalled service), they are allowing a person to come back not only stuffed, but fulfilled.

Bonus Tip – Head into the Library Bar and ask to try some Mezcal. If you ask nicely you’ll be treated to an impromptu Mezcal and Tequila lesson with the resorts tequila sommelier. Believe me it’s a true experience and you will definitely be wowed. You’ll be educated not only on the flavours and notes of the tequila, but also the history and locations in which each type was produced. You’ll be fascinated to see someone so dedicated to their craft and it will enhance the overall experience of your stay.
