I attended the September 2013 AM Resorts Wedding Fam in the Riviera Maya. The Fam was hosted by Amanda Davis, Romance Manager and Susan Gaines, Mid Atlantic Regional Sales Manager.
I will be providing reviews of the resorts as well as information about AM Resorts in general and their wedding programs. AM Resorts manages Zoetry, Secrets, NOW, Dreams and Sunscape Resorts.
We visited the following properties: Dreams Aventuras, Dreams Tulum, Dreams Riviera Maya, Dreams Cancun, NOW Sapphire, NOW Jade, Secrets the Vine, Secrets Silversands, Secrets Capri, Secrets Maroma, Secrets Aura Cozumel, Sunscape Sabor Cozumel & Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita.
Here are some of the main features of AM Resorts:
Preferred Clubs: Most AM Resorts have a Preferred Club (Secrets Capri is all Preferred Club, Secrets Marquis Los Cabos has no Preferred Club) and include the following amenities:
Personalized check-in and checkout with concierge service
Preferred status and amenities
Access to private lounge
Upgraded mini-bar service
Upgraded luxury bath amenities
Bathrobes and slippers
Daily continental breakfast and afternoon hot and cold hors d’oeuvres in private lounge
Exquisite desserts and fine liquors in private lounge
Complimentary newspaper in room or suite daily (English and Spanish)
I have vacationed in both lead-in rooms and Preferred Club Rooms with AM Resorts. When I’ve been in the lead-in room types I’ve never felt I was missing out on anything because for me, AM Resorts properties are a step above most other hotels. What they call Deluxe Rooms, (lead-in rooms ) are filled with luxurious amenities, incredible bedding, modern appliances and 24 hour rooms service, (features most often only available at an upgraded cost at other resorts).
Something to note: I have never come across a room at an AM Resort that had a moldy or musty smell, they are very on top of ventilation and air-conditioning. I have also never had that shock of a chemical smell when entering an AM Resort room, (the trick that some other companies use to mask the mold). In fact, there is always a pleasant, non-scent in their rooms.
If someone decides to upgrade to the Preferred Club it is certainly an extra treat. I really enjoy using a private lounge to grab a snack and have my favorite drink or an espresso made for me on the way to the beach. Most often you will have the same attendant for the week, so they really get to know you and what you like. When staying in the Preferred Club, the check in process is faster as well because you are quickly taken to your floor or building and checked in privately.
I recently stayed at the Secrets Vallarta Bay as well as the Secrets the Vine and both are similar in the way that a Preferred Guest is greeted and checked in.
Upon arrival at the Vallarta Bay, we were greeted and welcomed even before stepping out the car by an attendant with champagne and a cold towel. We were promptly whisked away to the Preferred Lounge where they asked us for our favorite drink and within minutes, we had 5 samples of tequila. We hadn’t even checked in and we were already spoiled. Preferred Club is a noticeable difference and worth every penny. The relaxing tone of your vacation is set from the second you step out of your car. One feature I love at AM Resorts is the Unlimited Connectivity app. You download an app onto your phone and with it you can view everything to do with the resort; look at menu’s, the day’s activities, use the web from anywhere on the resort and call home for free. Here are the listed features:
Make calls and send messages over the WiFi network without incurring international roaming charges.
Keep up with social media
Use your room phone remotely
Contact staff directly
Book spa appointments
Access the latest resort information Reserve excursions and more
All Inclusive: At all AM Resorts there are no wristbands, no reservations required for dinner and no limits on the number of times you can visit a restaurant. I love these features because I can go where I want, when I want and as much as I want. At other resorts, if you are on an excursion, you often feel you need to get back to the resort to be on time for the dinner you woke up extra early and waited in a line up to reserve. Going anywhere at anytime is a selling feature for me and for those clients who are used to being “tagged” at check in with a wristband and restricted with food choices. There is always 24 room service at all AM Resorts and a good amount of them now have drop boxes in your room. I’ve noticed that all AM Resorts try to have similarly styled and themed restaurants, but actually, there were differences from each property with their Italian, Seafood, Asian and French restaurants. The goal is the same (5 star dining and service), but the menu, decor and ambiance is never the same. This is a good reason to visit many of their resorts because know you are going to receive the same calibre of service at each, yet still experience variety. I’ve eaten at the French restaurant at the NOW Sapphire and it has a very different menu than the French at Secrets Marquis as well as the Secrets Vallarta Bay but all are special in their own ways. This is a good thing to tell clients who always go to RIU or Barcelo because it’s the same food, same menu, same designated sittings and same ingredients.
With my report, I am going to list less of the particulars of each resort (#of rooms, # of restaurants, age of hotel etc) and give more information about my impression and overall feeling for each property. We can all find everything we need to know on the site, so I will share more of what stood out for me, what I learned and what I didn’t know before going.
AM Resorts Weddings:
AM Resorts has a pretty amazing wedding program. Essentially, if you can imagine it (and pay for it) they will do whatever you want. I thought I had an idea about wedding prior to going, but I really didn’t. There are so many imaginative and outside the box ideas that made me think of weddings, commitment ceremonies, vow renewal and receptions in a new way. The wedding coordinators are given a lot of freedom to be creative and come up with more than just “walking down the aisle” and will always know the best way to make a couples vision come to life. After meeting all the wedding coordinators, I began to see them as reality and fantasy makers. They will make your dreams come true but also bring you back to reality as to what is actually plausible, yet make everyone happy in the process. They are all really talented people and masters in their field.
For rainy days, all resorts have an indoor “b plan” that is just as nice as what they can do outdoors. For example, at Dreams Cancun, the indoor reception had umbrellas hanging from the ceiling and rain boots filled with flowers as the center pieces. It was really fun yet tasteful.
During the Fam, we were treated as if we were the actual guests who were at a wedding so we were there for the ceremonies, receptions, meals and of course the eating of a lot of wedding cake.
AM Resorts will offer the groom a room the night before the wedding based on availability. The free wedding package is available on the AMR Master Agents website. On the site, you can download all of the wedding guides specific to each property.
Remember that AM Resorts will do the following types of ceremonies:
Legal and ceremonial weddings, vow renewal, honeymoon ceremonies and anniversary ceremonies.
AM Resorts has 3 main wedding package levels and between each brand, the names are a bit different but they all basically remain similar in inclusions and features.
Here is a link to show clearly, how each works:
***there are also a la carte shopping for wedding features on each resorts wedding guide.
AM Resorts does do free weddings when you meet the requirements, which are:
You must book at least 7 nights in the required room category
You must book 5 rooms, any category for at least 3 nights. *symbolic ceremony only
On each of the resorts direct websites, you will see an availability calendar that is updated frequently. The best way to confirm wedding openings is to look at the calendar and then email the wedding coordinator directly.
Dreams Puerto Aventuras The Dreams Puerto Aventuras is an excellent lead-in family resort. They have a beach that is perfect for families with children because it is more of a large cove protected by a reef. They have water trampolines and slides in the ocean for the kids in addition to an excellent children’s club. The resort does have an adult’s only section tucked away from the main pool and separated by the resort itself, making it very quiet and relaxing. They recently opened up their own Coco Café right in the lobby, so like most AM Resorts, they now have their own espresso and coffee bar with food as well. They will pack a to-go bag and a coffee for you if you are in a rush or you can sit down and relax and use the computers if you wish.
The resort is an older property, but they have maintained it very well and have kept it modern with contemporary tropical décor, furniture, refurbishments and art. I am the type of person who knows instantly upon entering if I am going to like the room and I loved my room here. The beds are very comfortable and plush and the rooms have all the modern ammenities like flat screen TV’s and DVD players. The beds were so amazingly comfortable and overflowing with pillows and luxurious bedding that I just melted each night. All the rooms have balconies, either dolphin or ocean view.
Weddings at Dreams Puerto Aventuras: I think this resort has the best outdoor wedding locations of any AM Resort in the Mayan. Our site inspection started the day of arrival and we began our tour seeing the set-ups at the beach and gazebo locations. Simply stunning! That night we had dinner in the adults section where a full spread and circus wedding was being performed. They had tight rope walkers, fire breathers, popcorn, candy and dancers on stilts. This was pretty incredible. They wanted to show us that you can really do anything for your wedding. The resort has an overwater gazebo that is very picturesque. There is another area of the resort that has a tucked away sandy area where the rocks meet the ocean, which would have some very dramatic photos. Later I will talk about the Mayan Wedding Ceremony, which is more fitting in a specific type of location and the Dreams Puerto Aventuras does have one of the areas that would make that ceremony extra special. The best location for a traditional ceremony is still the Gazebo, overlooking the entire front property with a large sandy area to set up a reception with lights. In the Mexican restaurant, they have a large, illuminated tree that is perfect for an indoor ceremony as the ocean is right outside and viewable from all sides. This would be a very beautiful option even if it is not raining. As soon as you step outside the ocean is crashing over the rocks, a perfect area for photos and a reception. Overall, I would rate the Dreams Puerto Aventuras as solid 4.5 star hotel with 5 star wedding facilities, planners and locations. This resort has prime wedding locations, about 4 in total, so it is like a playground for a bride to get very creative.
Secrets Capri: I really love the Secrets Capri and was pleasantly surprised at how well maintained and luxurious this property still is. I normally like the new and modern resorts, and while this one is more classic in its design and style, I loved it. It was cozy, intimate, luxurious, warm and the most authentically Mexican resort they have in the Secrets brand. All of the rooms at this property are Preferred Club providing all the inclusions and services offered only in upgraded sections at other AM Resorts.
A unique feature of the resort for weddings is the long pier they have in front of the property. They had a traditional wedding set-up with chairs and a gazebo and at the end of the pier they had a Mayan ceremony for us with a man blowing on a conch. The pier can also be used for the wedding ceremony itself and the reception on the beach or vice-versa. I was most impressed with the reception presentations and quality of food, drink and decor they had set up for us. They were very creative and instead of a traditional cake, they had small cakes with each of our names on them, a great idea for a group. The Secrets Capri has the most elegant and stylish wedding set-ups of all the Secrets we saw. I really love this property.
I can see why Secrets Maroma is awarded the AAA 5 Diamond Award. In every way, this is a pinnacle property with it’s grand lobby overlooking the beautiful grounds and it’s amazing location right on Maroma Beach. This resort is a modern day tropical paradise tailor made for couples.
The main draw here is of course the beach. Maroma Beach is a very famous area and it does not disappoint. If you have brides that want the picture perfect, ultra blue ocean and white sand, this is the place.
Secrets Maroma has a lot of swim out units that are quite private and protected by jungle. I’ve found that in a lot of resorts, swim out units are exposed and you end up feeling a bit naked and on display, but here, the beautiful foliage provides privacy and a sense of being in your own jungle. There are also honeymoon units with large balconies and private plunge pools, (even on higher floor units) and these units are totally incredible. The entire design, layout and execution of the resort caters to couples, romance and tranquility. The décor is somewhere between classic and modern with a mix of earth tones, brighter colors and abstract art work.
This is ultimately the perfect place for couples and those wanting peace, tranquility and a sense of escapism. For couples who want a truly romantic and tropical getaway, I cannot think of a better place than the Secrets Maroma.
Dreams Tulum: The Dreams Tulum is a very unique resort. First and foremost, the hotel manager is an outstanding person who truly cares about his staff and you can tell the staff genuinely love working here. The general manager lives on site and has started a lot of programs to enhance the lives of everyone who works there. In the back on the resort is what can only be described as a little main street where former staff have opened up their own businesses. There is a corner store, barber and restaurant. The general manager has also created a program to help pay for school for the staff’s children. The resort has recently had a lot of refurbishments, especially to the rooms. One of the most unique features of this resort is what they call “Rainforest Cabins”. These are outdoor, individual spa treatment rooms with floor to ceiling windows completely surrounded by the jungle. Inside are the beds and Jacuzzi’s where you can have any treatment (including couples treatment) and spend the day inside. The wedding staff showed us around to various locations and the first wedding set-up we saw was an indoor arrangement in their conference building. If anyone wants a “WOW” reception, they would love this set-up: From here we were taken to the beach area where they had various beach and evening set-ups: The next stop was a total surprise as we were taken to another beach and presented with a full Indian Wedding and amazing Indian Food.
DREAMS RIVIERA CANCUN
AMAZING resort. Simply stunning.
The Dreams Riviera Cancun was originally built to be a Secrets property and it shows as it is one of the most luxurious 5 star, family resorts I’ve been to. This resort fully deserves its price point for being a family resort. It feels ultra lux compared to all other family properties I have been to.
I have clients that stay in the Master Suite Ocean Front Room each year and after having seen it, I can see why. They are incredible.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by face paint and Avatars! Yes, there were actual people dressed up as Avatars and dispersed all throughout the property. They popped up out of the pools, jungle and were even in the Jacuzzi tub in the rooms. The wedding set-ups themselves are stunning here. They have the most unique gazebo right up at the beach, a futuristic, modern looking structure that photographs very well.
You can tell that the Dreams Riviera Cancun takes wedding very seriously because they had so many themes, colors, set-ups and scenarios, including an Avatar couple getting married. (again, going with the “if you can dream it up and pay for it” they will do it theme.
There is no question that this resort deserves a 5 star rating, there aren’t many family resorts that warrant such high praise, but this one does.
SECRETS AURA COZUMEL
The Secrets Aura is a very unique and intimate resort, located on the west facing side of Cozumel. The resort is made up of two main parts, the ocean front area and the garden area, both of which have their own main pools and swim out units.
You very much feel you are on an island here as the resort is quite compact and there is almost a Bahamas vibe to the whole property.
They have now completed a full renovation of the Preferred Club rooms, which they took down to the beams and built back up and they have amazing ocean views. There are incredible pools and swim out units all over the property and some even have a water slide from the swim out suite, down to the main pool/swim up bar.
The Secrets Aura Cozumel has been an AM Resort for almost a year and a half and has a very special feeling to it compared to other Secrets. The little bridges, paths and tucked away pools combined with the perfectly manicured and fully matured gardens make it feel very unique, intimate and like an island oasis.
The beach here is not picture perfect, but if you are on Cozumel, you are probably somewhat interested in snorkeling and here the marine life is incredible. Just looking down from the pier you can see fish everywhere and the water is crystal clear. I would absolutely recommend this resort for those wanted peace & quiet (but an option to have fun, the inner pool area was active and the beachfront pool areas were relaxing) and those who are wanting something different than the Mayan Riviera and Cancun. The Secrets Aura is located about 20 minutes south of San Miguel (where you arrive by ferry from Playa del Carmen) so it is very close to town by hopping in a taxi. One thing to note that is nice about this resort: The pier is incredible and the perfect spot to see sunrises and sunsets because it faces west. When on the mainland, you don’t see the dramatic sunsets and sunrises as it happens behind you on land. This pier is also the perfect location to have a private romantic dinner for your anniversary or to have a wedding ceremony. Honeymooners, wedding couples, vow renewals and anyone who wants to feel pampered in an intimate setting will love this resort.
Sunscape Sabor Cozumel:
The Sunscape Sabor Cozumel is a solid 4 star resort that is directly beside the Secrets Aura. As you can see from the photo above, (looking towards the resort from the pier), the water is crystal clear and there are pretty little fish everywhere.
The resort is very family oriented and has many room types, including 1 Bedroom units. The grounds are very well kept and maintained and the resort like the Secrets, it built mostly along the beach, so there is no more than a minute walk to get to the ocean. There are two main pool areas, one by the lobby and near the beach and the other is located in the section of rooms to the far right of the resort. It is up here that they had the wedding set-ups for us.
The Sunscape does have an excellent location perfect for ocean view weddings. There is a courtyard area that is on an elevated part of the property with ocean views. If you wanted a wedding couple to have not just an ocean front wedding, but ocean view as well, this would be a perfect location.
The Spa at the Sunscape Sabor is beautiful and is shared with the Secrets Aura Cozumel.
SECRETS THE VINE CANCUN
Everyone here at Escapes knows this is my favorite resort (well, now my 2nd favorite after the Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita). Not much else needs to be said other than just to book it, just go, just send clients and just sell it with no hesitation. The only thing I would advise people about the resort is that it is a very modern, “city” style resort, than happens to be in Cancun and is all-inclusive.
The resort has a very lively and worldly feel to it, which is similar to the Secrets Silversands in that although it is adults only, it is not necessarily couples only.
The resort is uber sexy & sophisticated in design, décor and ambiance. Not one aspect of the building is out of place or without thoughtful planning. Everything has is place and purpose here.
The Preferred Club here is FANTASTIC. There is a dedicated bar and pool area, on the 5th floor, overlooking the grounds and ocean. It is simply divine.
All rooms are ocean view, all rooms are VERY luxurious and have large balconies.
NOW Sapphire & NOW Jade
When we arrived at the NOW Sapphire, we skipped the front desk and were taken tot he spa where 20 people were waiting for us to give us massages. They sat us down, handed us drinks, took off our shoes, gave us feet massages, back massages and then we were all taken to the Preferred Club. How much did we love Sapphire? A LOT.
The NOW Sapphire and NOW Jade are excellent family resorts. I loved my stay at the Sapphire. It is a very lush, green and tropical feeling resort. They have an excellent adults only area and pool, a large spacious main pool and also a teen and kids club. They have something for everyone.
Since I have been back, I’ve noticed that the two NOW Resorts have often been priced in the same range as the Barcelo, Bahia and Palladium Resorts. At the NOW, like all AM Resorts, you have unlimited food choices, no restrictions and no reservations required. Often at the Barcelo, Bahia and Palladium resorts, you must upgrade and pay a lot more to get into their premium sections for extra a la carte restaurants and you must still make reservations. I tell people that they can pay the same or less than those premium upgrades and actually get more out of it by booking one of the NOW Resorts. The freedom to choose your meals when, where and as much as you want is a big bonus in a family resort. It’s something that is often saved for adult only. Since I have been to the NOW Resorts, I see the difference between these and the Dreams. Dreams has a lot more children between 2-12 and the NOW while welcoming all children, has more teens rather than small children.
One night a few of us had dinner at the French Restaurant at the NOW Sapphire and it was actually the best meal I’ve had in a French Restaurant at any property, Secrets or Dreams. The agents I was with were all in agreement, the food at the NOW Sapphire surpassed even the Sandals they have been to. The service in the restaurants was also incredible. One server overheard us talking that we hadn’t had any tiramisu on the trip. The next thing we knew, there was tiramisu coming to the table. That was a definite wow moment.
The biggest question people seem to have is, What is the difference between the Jade and Sapphire? This is my attempt at explaining the differences:
The Jade is newer, has brighter colors, more modern décor and is slightly smaller in size. The Sapphire has a more classic look, with pillars coming up from the pools, plenty of jungle surroundings and occupies a large stretch of the beach. They both have a substantial amount of their rooms dedicated to Preferred Club.
I like both for different reasons. The Jade feels cheery, bright, modern, exotic (lots of bamboo) and has a pretty amazing Preferred Club. The rooms are very fun, yet tasteful at the Jade.
The rooms at the Sapphire are very luxurious, with marble floors, large bathrooms and balconies. I would sell the Preferred Club at both if you could, but especially at the Sapphire, the room allocation is right at the beach, (even in Preferred Tropical View).
For the Weddings, the NOW Sapphire has many locations within the grounds and around the resort itself that would be perfect for photos. The NOW Jade has an interesting upper area, with a large staircase coming up from the beach and they set up a gazebo on top of the stairs. The Gazebo set up overlooked the ocean and was the one that stuck out in my mind the most.
I am working with a few brides right now and am fully recommending both resort because they really can accommodate everyone and the food is stellar. There are many dining choices at both resorts that you can have your reception overlooking the beach and ocean at either.
I would highly, highly recommend and refer the NOW Resorts for weddings.
Something to note about the Sapphire:
I loved the rooms as well, for a few reasons: 1. The rooms had no sound transference, I slept very well. 2. The BEDS, oh wow, like all AM Resorts, I melted into the bed. 3. The air conditioners worked very well, the rooms were clean, bright and welcoming.
The NOW Sapphire has a very nice adult only pool tucked away in the jungle for those wanting peace and quiet. The main pool area is huge with many places to swim and it is right by the main lobby bar, making it the heart of the resort where people meet, play and party. They have a swim up bar as well, so the pool and lobby area is very active at night for those wanting a great night out. They also opened up a Coco Café, right in the lobby, another perfect addition to get your morning fix. I love, love, love Coco Cafes at AM Resorts.
NOW JADE RIVIERA PHOTOS:
ZOETRY PARAISO DE LA BONITA
Heaven. On. Earth.
Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita
I left a piece of my heart at the Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita. That sounds silly I know, because a resort shouldn’t leave such an impression, but this one did. I admit that previous to visiting the Zoetry, I didn’t fully understand the difference between a typical all inclusive and this type of property. I now fully realize that this is not an “all-inclusive”, but more so a resort that includes everything (and more so, than most resorts).
The charm of the resort actually starts with the transfer from the airport (included and provided for all guests), when you are picked up in a private car and begin your journey down a long road surrounded by jungle. Eventually you do find yourself at the gates of the resort and that is when you really leave the world you know behind you. When arriving at the Zoetry, you are in fact entering someone’s home because this property was originally built by a man who wanted his wife to have her very own tropical oasis. Zoetry has since expanded on the property and made it into a full resort, but they have retained the feeling of being in a sacred environment. The name Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita means “Paradise of the beautiful” which it certainly is, both paradise and beautiful. For me, the most interesting part of the resort is the artwork and artifacts that are displayed everywhere. The owner of the resort travels the world for authentic and historic pieces to add to the resorts already extensive and exotic collection. Every turn has a new surprise and there are artifacts from across the globe including Asia, Africa, South America and Europe. It is a fascinating place to spend time in and around if you appreciate art, history, culture and style. I have always been obsessed with Polynesian history and culture so I was amazed to see that one of the restaurants has actual Polynesian canoes hanging from the ceiling. If you are paying attention you will notice a tonal shift from room to room because of the lighting, artwork, scents and décor. No two public areas are alike and this uniqueness also extends to the guest rooms.
For me, the biggest part of me saying “yes” or “no” to a resort is its rooms. I know, just by a vibe, the second I arrive in the lobby and the second I enter the room, if it’s a yes or a no. After seeing so many resorts, it really comes down to yes or no in the simplest of terms, rarely will a resort be a “maybe”.
Zoetry is yes. At the Zoetry, each room feels like a home, not only because they are very large and spacious, but because each has unique artwork, bedding and décor that differ from each other.
The floors are made of marble, so the rooms feel solid and the ceilings are higher than normal, giving a sense of spaciousness. They combine modern conveniences like flat screen TV’s & espresso makers with interesting old world and indigenous artwork, bedding, fabrics, cloth, lighting & paintings. Everything is plush, high-end, elegant and cozy, but also eclectic and eye-catching. The beds are all placed higher up off the floor (but not by much) than a typical resort and this is because the original owner wanted his wife to be able to see the ocean when she was lying in bed. Zoetry has kept with this idea and now each room gives you the ability to look out towards the ocean, even on the ground floor.
All rooms have espresso makers as well as tequila service (just tell them what you like), some have a plunge pool or outdoor shower and all have day beds in their outdoor space.
Because the resort is built along the beach and not back from it, you are never more than a few steps away from being at the ocean. I was surprised to see that the resort has 50 varieties of imported loose leaf tea which guests can help themselves to. In every resort I have been to, I have never come across real tea. Even 5 star resorts still carry Lipton teas. I knew right then and there that this resort was serious about the finer things in life. When I saw the varieties of tequila I fell even more in love with the Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita. They know their stuff, these people are not fooling around. They have a room with over 20 types of tequila and 5000 bottles of wine. The resort also owns its own catamaran, which guests can be taken out in and is included with your stay. Here is a list of the other features and inclusions that make the Zoetry more unique:
- One thalassotherapy session per stay
- A homemade beach bag
- Organic food options
- A Temazcal steam room ceremony every other day
- Bvlgari bath amenities
- Renewed sparkling wine and fruit basket per day
- Shopping excursion by boat
Even though the grounds are perfectly manicured there is still a fairly wild and untamed feeling to the resort. The on-site crocodile in the mangrove helps!
At the Zoetry they performed a Mayan Ceremony, which I fell in love with. On the far side of the resort, tucked away and protected by greenery is a sandy area perfect for private functions and ceremonies. We were able to witness the Mayan Ceremony, just before dusk and the setting could not have been more perfect. The Mayan ceremony was very personal, because it included everyone in the group and as we all joined hands, we encircled the bride and groom as the Mayan Priest performed his rituals. It was incredibly personal and inclusive, something that would be perfect for a couple who want their friends and family to not only attend their wedding, but be a part of it. For me, this was exactly the place that I have been searching for with all of my trips over the years.
Over the years, I’ve been going on so many traditional fams, self-guided fams and vacations, to seek out that “one place” that would help me escape reality. The Zoetry de la Bonita is that place for me.
The Secrets Silversands is a very modern and minimalist resort. All of the restaurants are sexy and full of eye-catching artwork, lighting, furniture and décor.
The resort can also boast to having the largest lead-in rooms in the Mayan Riviera.
I loved this property and it feels more adults only rather than couples only. By that I mean it appeared to be welcoming to everyone over the age of 18, not just couples. The Secrets Maroma is a very couple oriented property, but this one (like the Secrets the Vine) feels more worldly.
They have a lot of common areas with bars, tables and seating for people to gather for drinks and shows. The night we arrived, they had a stunning wedding set-up on the pier and an incredible night time reception.
The resort is white, so it’s almost like having a blank canvas to create your wedding décor and design. One side of one of the buildings is ain fact a large white wall, so people can project their images onto it or have a video playing. One groom to be proposed to his wife via a video displayed on the wall while they were eating dinner.
The food we had here was spectacular and for a large reception, they did an incredible job. I would give the Secrets Silversands a 5 star all the way.
Overall impressions of the AM Resorts wedding FAM:
AM Resorts is very serious about weddings, luxury and providing a stellar guest experience.
Amanda Davis really knows her stuff. She had so many creative ideas and new ways of looking at weddings that changed how I viewed the very profession I had been in for 8 years.
Here is what stands out in my mind:
Best outdoor Wedding Locations:
Dreams Puerto Aventuras-there are some very dramatic locations around the property that would allow for very dramatic photos and backdrops.
Dreams Cancun: Stunning, stunning, stunning, there are about 3 main locations, all having picture perfect backdrops
Zoetry Paraiso: The pier from the beach would be a perfect location for a reception or ceremony and the private area off to the resort would be excellent as well.
My favorite Resorts:
Secrets the Vine
French Restaurant at NOW Sapphire
Italian at the Secrets the Vine – even the sales manager agrees, best food anywhere. It’s as good as the Italian Kitchen here in Vancouver.
Secrets the Vine
Best party/active resort:
Secrets Silversands-they are the largest, lead in rooms of any resort, very modern and sleek
Secrets The Vine: heaven, 5 star rooms
Zoetry-heaven on earth, the rooms are beyond perfect.
Best Preferred Club:
Secrets the Vine – pool area alone is worth the upgrade
Best family resort:
Dreams Riviera Cancun
I had a really good time with all the other agents and Amanda and Susan from AM Resorts. They were excellent hosts and made everyone feel welcome!
